Well my New Orleans boys stopped in and put the screws
to me for a couple days!
Barry Foulon, Bruce O'Neil and Frankie Lynne and Mike Gentry blew in from Arkansas.
Marathon fretwork, National Guitar rebuild, and various minor tweakages and fixages.
I have no pics of the boys because I sent them to the hotel when it was time to concentrate.
I cannot wade in that much BS and work at the same time!
Prep to pull old wire, tape helps with the process
Slots are deteriorated from so many fret jobs so I will build them up and recut them to depth
First ill strengthen the sides with cyano
Pushing down any chips that may have pulled up
Now to remove residue
With the flat sander I can see a few divots from playing and a little cupping in the board, I will smooth these a little more
All smooth and some wool to shine it up
Straightening off the roll
1 at a time, Im cleaning a slot, deepening and installing the wire
Then sealing them down as I go
Coming to the heel...
That fret tool is sharp!
Removing glue residue as I go
Then it is polishing and oiling fingerboard....pics didn't come out.
Board oiled again, ready to tune
Strung for DGBE
Ready for Uncle Barry to test out
All the instruments brought in for work are completed,....its NAP TIME!
As always, a pleasure to work with such fine players and good men.
Thanks for watching
