Slots all sealed and ready to level the board
All the cracks in the fingerboard will be sealed as well, its just
dry as a bone
I will fret with Stewmac 7/64 wire, its mandolin gauge
Pressing from nut down to help drive extension downwards
Slotting to depth as I go with an .020 saw to get tightness
You can only do 4 wires with the press, now its time to hammer in
the rest
Thats my caul that I hammer onto.
And as with many other dried out fingerboards, the concussion knocks
out things and this time it is half the 1st fret block
Not as serious as it looks!
I'll shoot glue under it and reset it, it comes with the job
Pressing on the extension....tricky
All frets in
I am sealing them into the board with thin cyano that
will wick all in, up, under and around the loose areas and tighten the
slots to the wire.
Now to rim the ends and level them
Reblacking the F-board
Tuners need service, all rusty and funky inside
Neck ready to reattach
Tuners cleaned and lubed
Ready to string up on premium Thomastik- Enfields light gauge mandolin
string
This is the "Final say" in mandolin strings and I know Harris agrees...he
paid for them!
tuned to pitch on a 9/16 bridge and a decent medium action already
on that, so we are in the ball park, the rest is adjustments
Super clear tone, easy to fret and all frets note out to the end
of the plank.
I will need to work in the nut slots and the bridge some more but
thats about it.
This is before the final lowering and adjustments but shows it already
at 6/32"
Real high in the nut and that makes for a sharping tone up on 1
thru 4,..... Im on it.

Tuner housings polished up nicely
Shes going to settle in and I will make fine tunings from here
I think this was a decent success from where it was at.
The tone is VG and I think it can be taken on gigs now so
we will see what Harris says when she returns.
Thanks for watching,
Vinnie
