Its always a pleasure to work on one of Dale's banjo's and Im glad
that Phil has entrusted this work to me.
Phil saved me a few years back on some expensive parts I left at
the N.O. 2006 blast and its good to be able to help him now.
Finish shows some checking, but not bad for a banjo as played upon
as this one.
The clear head is making for too bright tone for Phil's liking,
so I will tone it down with an inside frosted REMO
Normal plating wear, and some corrosion due to perspiration.
I mean Phil does live in the BIG EASY, its very EASY to break a
Sweat there!
Slight wear in gravings, all in all still VGC
Neck finish still in VGC
4 little Belle's all in a row :):)
Ready to head out for plating
Setup on REMO 1100H2, it will have a warmer tone now.
The ebony in the fingerboard is very dry, so I have opted to repress
all of th frets, level them, recrown and seal them into the board with
cyano.
Ebony shrinks back from the fret tang, and a loose fret situation
occurs.
This is a common Luthier practice with the advent of hi-tech Cyanacrylates.
All excess will be cleaned off, an d the fingerboard oiled and reoiled
before polishing.
They just need a light leveling now before recrowning
I will use a ceramic wheel to shine them next
Setting it up on GHS Tenor Medium, if PW wants something else, we
will change them in Eureka.
Setup on one of Big Jim Farquhar's 9/16" MOP inserts, to see what
it offers.

here she is all back together, sitting next to Jeff's banjo and
Tom's as well.
Jeff and Phil have been with me since I got into this banjo world
and both of them continue to support me, and I surely thank them for that.
And for them both to have a banjo in here at the same time is cool
to me.
