Ready for neck reinstallation
After stripping the old finish and removing all the sweat stains
from the upper neck, I have gone with a Tobacco brown with a light center
and faded on both ends
Finish is Mohawk Classic Instrument lacquer
3 more coats and that will be enough
Neck finish complete and reattached
Fingerboard dressed and oiled
Ready for tuners and tailpiece
I had some old Prototype tailpiece in my stock that has hung around
for years, have no idea who made it but its made well so it will finally
go somewhere on this banjo.
It has an adjustable top cover that if corked, would serve as a
mute as well
it also has one adjusting screw, you can see the slide attachment
here
It has alot of travel
Added some Schaller tuners
Strung up on an original bacon Bridge and 42-32-22-13 string gauges,
GDAE
Very BIG powerful tone, more than I've heard on any bacon on ITM,
its a SUPER for sure!
The adjustable top pushed as far up as it will go here, youc an
tell different voices in the tone as it moves, pretty neat.
