Old hide is sturdy, I'll patch 2 holes and clean her up.
She will sound stellar on the vintage skin
Normal corrosion inside, all hardware will be buff edand waxed
Fingerboard lifting a tad, ill shoot in some glue, no biggie
All apart, ready to clean and add some fresh finish
Clamp off while glue sets
Frets are being sealed into the dried out fingerboard and the rough
ends will be trimmed, the frets all re-leveled, recrowned and polished
You can see a little dust where I pulled the fret leveler and felt
they were all loose so stopped to seal them
All this will be wire wheeled to remove rust and buffed
Head bearing will be pulled and cleaned
After leveling , recrowning
A little gold leaf for the logo
Original was Silver but I like to use gold
Headstick dyed, frets completed fingerboard scuffed and ready for
finish
Sealing the 2 cracks in the back and I will attempt to take some
of that gouge out.
Neck sanded and ready for finish
it does have one old broken screw in the tuners, no biggie,
it can stay. There is a crack that has begun to widen on the heel, I
will pop a pin in there later
Got alot of the bad area smoothed out
Fade on the backplate, heel and rim bottom
Taking on clear
Oh yeah, gotta pin that heel
I'll do it now before I get any further into the finish
Ill use an alum tube, in case later someone need to drill it out
for any reason
It will go all the way thru the doel and under the fingerboard,
stabilizing the heel for certain
Rim finish complete, shoes polished and reinstalled.
SETUP
Strings arrived and its setup with the nut slots and bridge cut
in for a good action
Very nice tone with plenty of power on the vintage skin and Aquila
Nylguts , the preferred string of Banjohaven for any uke or banjo
uke.
I will let them settle in over the weekend, do the final adjustments
and get her home to Terri to make music.
Thanks for watching,
Vinnie
