Short scale 5 string project

24" scale
Neck - unknown maker
Gibson bow tie style peghead cut
Solid truss
Brass heel cap
No inlay
No binding
Already fretted
Neck sequence
The tuner holes were already drilled so I had to go with that pattern as far as inlay.
It did not leave room for a full size Gibson logo so I used one from a 25 TB3.
(Not a neck that could have been repaired)
Its smaller size at least fits.
I added side dots and a Gibson style finish
Tuners installed to check things.
I did a faux binding on the peghead with white lacquer and fine line tape-off.
I then yellowed the white to appear as a binding that has patina.
Then I cut all of the MOP and made my style of bow ties, they are rounded, not angular.

Inlay was tricky because it was fretted. So setting them required a little more precision.
This helps me learn new tricks, work outside of the norm to see if it would have been faster to just pull frets, etc. It would have been no faster to pull frets, as it turned out.
It is mine, I can do what I want and maybe someone will still want it when it is done this way.
I like to try things and innovate for my  own pleasure. not following strict guidelines.

Nothing rare or irreplaceable is on this project.
Parts on my shelves, plain and simple.
Rim assembly
Multi ply rim, Asian, maybe Ibanez
Cut for Tube and plate flange
I shot a finish on it to match my project.
It will be 2 piece flange plates, not a one piece.
Since I have no tone ring for it, I will build it with a Rim skirt from a Vegaphone.

Height is right, fits like its made for it, ironically.
This will suffice for now (or forever, depending on tone)
Will use grooved hoop, flat hooks, brass 1 piece armrest and a clamshell tailpiece.
Resonator, To be determined later.
FIRST ASSEMBLY
After heel cut to match the rim , removing brass heel cap and making a wood replacement,
I completed the finish work on the heel and blended in to the neck.

This is only a test assembly and on the next one more finish will be added.
I use finish for an indicator while I work. Because it is Nitrocellulose I have a wide margin of workability to take advantage of.
Next i added lags and used a heavy brass co-rod and a top lag that is 5/15 brass, not unlike early Gibson models that sis not use 2 rods.
I wanted the weight of 1 rod to be equal or more than that of two rods.
After fitting and altering small things I set it up and I have a good action and a good fingerboard/frets right away so "Whew" something to work with.
So now completing nut slots, bridge work,  normal stuff to see how it acts for a few days then back into it.
RESONATOR
I am using a factory "blem" Recording King that has some veneer that was sanded too far at the factory.
This orphan has been around my shop a long time, I decided on a theme and went with it.
As I add finish I will figure out the mounting hardware.
I will amber the neck center a tad more on the final finish work
